At first glance, the Marschall Bridge is probably not “beautiful” for many people. The historic arches on the one side and the new frame construction on the other don’t quite fit together, and then there are those strange “boomerangs” at the end of the frame beams!

On closer inspection, however, the offensive confrontation of historical and modern construction technology can be explained as a clever balance between traffic, structural and monument preservation interests. And last but not least, one discovers that this bridge is even more enigmatic than it seems: behind the views of the two parts lies a third, completely different hidden structure.
